The Southwest Plaza Mall is located in 2 miles west of Littleton, in Jefferson County, Colorado. The mall boasts over 150 shops and services, with 6 anchor tenants, Dillard's, J.C. Penney, Macys, Sears, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Steve & Barry's University Sportswear, all in 1,360,000 sq. ft. of total retail space, on 2 floors. The mall was opened for business in 1983, and is currently owned and managed by General Growth Properties.
The family friendly services this mall has to offer are not different from any of those normally provided by a regional shopping center that focuses on the average customer, with certain stores for the occasional upscale shopper. The services for families are stroller rental and diaper changing areas in the restrooms, plus a children's play area. Parking is ample and free, but unfortunately there is no valet parking service, nor are there any indoor parking lots. There have been no major security incidents lately near the mall premises as the security is extremely well organized and structured. The schedule is common for a regional shopping center, the mall being open for customers Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Dinning at the center is varied, with 7 full-service restaurants, food court eateries, and cafes. There is no cinema, so entertainment is not great inside the mall, and unfortunately there are no attractions nearby for customers to visit when they want to take a break from shopping. However, Littleton offers a variety of things to do or see, such as Deer Creek Canyon Park, many golf courses, Waterton Canyon, Deer Creek Canyon Bike Trail, Roxborough State Park, and many more.
